Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New to Watercooled, im a jetta-junkie = D

    Hello everyone,

I have a 97 jetta Gls that i bought 5 years ago. I have had a hateful relationship with my jetta (mostly love now). Reasons why:

    transmission slip while driving uphill...
window switch on driver side was not working for all windows...
Would turn off any time while driving...
    several oil leaks...
    several air hose leaks...
    starting problems
    etc.

I have stayed up soooo late just reading every single thread from Jettajunkie, Vw Vortex, 12volt.com, and several forums from google searches. It is now that i am signing up with VWwatercooled = )
My jetta 2.0slow isn't the best like other VR6 or 1.8T but it is not longer at its worst. I have feed it every single type of lubrication that was needed and even replaced stock parts to keep my jetta happy. Now it treats me really well and I do plan on rewarding it with some techtonics upgrades. Because of this, I am pursing a career as a Auto Tech in Fremont, CA. As crazy as it sounds, I will be driving all the way from NY with jetta 2.slow...

    Let the Adventure continue!
    Thanks for time VW Watercoolers.

cant wait to do that myself...ugh, unfortunately later that night my car was a victim of a hit and run. I can still drive it but
the jerk messed up my rear bumper/Rear left corner panel/front corner panel and my front strut is stuck (there is no bounce)...
not to mention my alignment is off.. this shouldn't stop me though.

Are you insured for that ???

Good luck, hope it gets fixed soon.

        Post pics when you can.

PS The Jetta 3 was called the Vento in Australia.
I owned the one in the US,and then lived in South Africa, and had another one there.

        What colour is yours ???
