Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New to water cooled, but not vee dubs

    Hey all,

I'm Eliot from Sydney, I drive a '91 Golf GTI Mk2 which I've had for the last couple of months. This is my first water cooled VW and I love it already. I used to drive a '74 Beetle 1300 a few years ago. I've been carless for the last year, but now I have wheels again, I'm keen to talk VW's on the forum.

    Cheers,

    Eliot

      Thanks Silver dub,

I haven't had a chance to take any photos of it since I bought it, but here's a picture of it before I picked it up:

Mk2 GTI's looks really good in white.

So have you got any plans to change or modify anything?

Thanks, at the moment its my daily drive. There are a few things it needs done electronics wise, so will get all that fixed up, but in the long run I'd like to slam it and get some new wheels.

                  Very tidy looking Mk2.

Be careful of the green tail lights. I uesd to have blue ones on a car I purchased and they were a massive piggy magnet. Took them off and never got pulled over.

Thanks for the warning. That's a pity. I might not do it, but just interested to see what they look like. Will be putting coilovers on it in the next few months.
