Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    so heres the problem

i keep seeing these really sweet names to build threads, short of 'Project ABF', that one pretty much tells the whole story

ya see my problem is that i once read that "it will be built, NOT bought", so taking that on board i decided to find myself an ABF, start a little build project of my own, and i have no idea what to call it.

of course all the picks i'll be taking along the way will be posted on here, i just dont think i can come up with one of those awesome names to go with it.

nowu see the dilemma, heres what i have

    95 golf GL

ABF block wiring loom computer all that

    intercooler

(fun bits to come) early next month i should be acquiring an M45 eaton supercharger

after that, and when the finances pick themselves back up a little, K&N coilover lowering kit, chrome head and tail lights, (fingers crossed) a set of VR6 leather seats and a whole heap of other go fast and make me look the part bits.

i guess what i have here is quite a big dream huh.

moving on, I just cant seem to come up with that kick arse name to call my build project, worst of all its probably going to take me a bit over a year to get it all together and jammed into the poor old car, so if anyone on here has a build name for my little idea please feel free to post it and i will concider all of them. (as long as its not the one that my old man suggested of "PROJECT WHERE DID ALL MY MONEY GO", or "PROJECT SLOW", i dont believe that the car could be honestly called slow once its all together...

    cheers all

nice call Rocc'in, i like it, but so far not too expencive thankfully.

have to see how it goes in the long run huh.

so i ran into a nice young lady today, not litterally of course, i stopped her to ask her about her polo she was rolling in, nice looking and asked her a couple of questions about it, she loved it all the way around, economy, handling, u name it she loved it, but enuf of that dribble, her polo for memory and i may be wrong here but i believe it was a polo Club, the bit that caught my interest was the 15" rims that were on it, i asked her about them and if she knew the offset and she was rather oblivious to what i was saying.lol.

started thinking about it and decided that ii wanted a set and was wondering if anyone on here had a set and knew the offset

anyway im off now, have a good day all and if you have any thing that might interest me please dont hesitate to drop me a message

I think you could change the thread name from minor problem to Major Problem. It will be a lot of dollars and a lot of work but good luck with it anyway.
2001 Bora 4 Motion Sport now used by number two son
2011 Skoda Octavia Scout now with Underground Performance tune
2010 Jetta 125 tdi dsg for the misses - Impressed
2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it

the only real major problem so far is all the bolts, whoever worked on the engine last used silicone for EVERY gasket concievable and damn near stripped the guts out of evry bolt in the process (thankfully not the threads), the crank shaft bolts look like theyve been taken to with a hammer and chisel going by the size of the gouges in the bolts so im going thru a mate to get nearly a full set of bolts for the entire block, its becoming more of a hassel everytime i consider going to work on it.

good news is that the cylinders still have the last honeing marks in them so im just gonna get it re-honed then get the head worked on, new valves and guides and such, empty pocket again huh..... never mind, as the build starts to come together look out for the pics, should be a few coming in the next couple of months
