    Hi all,

I'm in the market for a new car. Have driven Hondas for the last 15 years and I think its time to change that!
My research has lead me to single out 2 cars up for contention and they're both VDubs to my surprise. My original(basic) criteria for my next car was a 4cyl Turbo AWD vehicle. Ever since I drove my friend's WRX way back in 1995 and another friend's Mini Godzilla GTI-R, that turbo rush got me hooked on fast cars. However being a poor uni student I never got the opportunity to have one of my own. Over the years, my head has won over my heart as I could never justify owning an expensive vehicle which was essentially to get one from A to B. So I have always bought frugal and reliable Honda small sedans and hatchbacks.

Anyway, the 2 cars which make sense to me at the moment are the Tiguan 137TSI DSG and the Golf VI 118TSI DSG. The car that makes more sense to me is the 118TSI however I love the look and feel of the Tig. I've test driven the Tig 155 TSI DSG and the Golf GTI at VW Parra last week and both cars blew me away. The cabin refinement and the performance of both vehicles were just a step up from my current ride (2003 Honda Jazz VTI).

I've surfed my way onto your forum through my research and find members have a wealth of info to share. However it has made my decision even harder now that I'm armed with all the Pros (and cons) of these 2 vehicles.

I'll update when I've made my decision and introduce my new baby to the relevant area in due course.

    Welcome mate.
I can vouch for the tig doing everyhting well enough for me to be 100% happy with my purchase.

I would reccomend it as it has more practicality.

      Hi Team_V,

I've been reading the thread on your vehicle and I must say it is a beautiful looking car in its current form. Love the rims and the look of the grille and headlights. It is one of the reasons I am swaying towards a Tig.

The Tig also sports AWD and sliding/folding rear bench seats which i don't think come in the 118TSI.

either car would be a good choice but I know the Tig has performed well at everyting i needed it to (inlcuding moveing an outdoor table and chair setting and another time we had a dishwasher and a lawnmower in the back.)

Thanks Capt C. And thanks for the intro to Russell. Will give him a call on the weekend to discuss options further.

That's interesting to note Team_V. One of my concerns was space. I bought my Jazz because it can fit (no pun intended) almost everything I've thrown at it. I've used it to move house a couple of times, 2 bicycles and once I sold a chest of drawers on eBay to a guy who brought a Holden Commodore to pick it up. He couldn't get it in the boot or the back seat. In the end I drove it to his place. He was well impressed with its cargo capacity. Good to know the Tig has analogous space in a pinch.
