Became aware of the forum following an unfortunate scenario where my 3 months out of warranty '07 Passat suffered the injector failure... $5500 later I'm not terribly happy and hoping someone can help resolve this with VAG.

And this thread, and put in a claim for some compensation to VWAustralia. No recall here as yet, but certainly spreading across Europe from the UK

Have you owned the vehicle since new?
Has it been serviced by a VW dealer, or at an aftermarket garage?
How many kilometers has the car done?
What difference will this information make???? Well, if you have owned the car since new, and always had it serviced by the VW dealer, then your dealer should support you in a claim with VAG, and then maybe get something sorted as a goodwill gesture.
If you have only used the VW dealership for warranty issues, and had the vehicle serviced elsewhere, then I don't like your chances.
