Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New GTI owner, but its not working just yet.

    Hi guys,
I've just purchased myself an 09' GTI with DSG as a repairable write off to fix up and came across your forum.
My last car was an audi a4 which was a great car but it is time to upgrade, i also lurked around ozaudi forums for a little bit about 5 years ago.

I've got a few questions that with respect to the DSG and the mechtronics unit that i hope that you guys could help me out with.
Because of the crash the mechatronics unit has been damaged and from my understanding VW do not sell individual parts for these units. Which is crazy because auto transmission places would be well equipped to fix these and get them on the road again... from my understanding its about $3200 in parts to get a new one, plus the labour to then go an tune it( installation would be done by myself). I think you can tune with the VCDS module, altho I need to do some more research into this.

Has anyone on this forum found parts for the mechatronic unit? Or do people just replace the whole unit?

This guy on youtube seems to have rebuilt his mechatronic unit

Can't wait to get this car on the road, the fit and finish of the car is amazing well above any other hot hatches in the market.

Anyways your help would be greatly appreciated!
Working...
