Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Just bought myself a GTI!

G'day Everyone! The name is Tofuboi. But you can call me Nathan.

Last Tuesday I took delivery of a nice 2008 Golf Mk5 GTI and I am absolutely loving it. (Except the fact I should have looked up the 60k service cost BEFORE getting one... Oops! Oh well. )

I'm a pretty easy going guy with an extensive knowledge of computers/technology and also a fairly moderate knowledge of cars and what not. I enjoy going for cruises and also a little bit of photography as well.

I found VW Watercooled through a friend who bought a brand new Golf Wagon a few months back.

I hope my time on this forum will be great! Thanks!

At first I wondered how you knew I owned an Aurion. I swear I didn't mention it in my initial post. Anyway the Aurion was traded in. Two reasons for that. I felt like a change and suddenly the Aurion felt it was time for everything to suddenly go wrong.

Sweet ride; how does a VAG 2.0T compare to a Toyota V6?

We actually tested this with my friend's 07 GTI before I got mine. On a sub 30 degree day, the V6 and the 2.0T are pretty much on par with eachother. The DSG on the GTI helps though But if it's a colder day, the GTI is 100x better.

I still prefer the GTI over the Aurion though, it's just a better package overall.
