Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC New GTI Edition 35 owner.

    Male, 42.

Golf GTI Edition 35 5DR Hatch 6 Speed DSG Candy White. This is my first European car and Im really happy with what this nice little hot hatch has to offer.

In coming to my decision to purchase a VW watercooled.org.au was an interesting and helpful knowledge base. Intially I was looking at the Golf R but found trying to buy one, with the color/options I wanted, difficult. Not wanting to be a badge snob I went for a few drives in a GTI and, with respect, it was one great little car. The 35 is better. It doesnt have 4 wheel drive like the R but it looks as good and goes fast enough to please me. I will, most likely, never go to a track day or try my hand at street drag racing so as a day to day car I believe Im on a good thing.

watercooled.org.au forums helped me find some peace of mind in nearly every stage of the decision to buy, firstly a Golf, then the model to suit my wants and needs.

Great choice - I did the same and felt I was getting all I needed without the extra cost (and time delay in arrival) of the R. The small boot of the R was a significant issue for me.

I think all 35 owners know the value they achieved.

      Welcome

I had so much fun Ive clocked up 600 km in 6 days and not been more than 30km from home. I even became a Sunday driver spending 3 hours in the hills around home, showing scant regard for the yellow signs but following the guidence given by the white ones. I wish I could have closed the roads, there were cars breaking for corners everywhere.
