  • SA Afternoon!

I'm new in town having come over from the UK, so figured it would be a good place to meet some likeminded people right? I've not actually got any form of motor yet, and I'm a bit skint, so any advice on uber cheap motors would be welcome! I was big into my Vw/Audi's at home, got a 2002 Audi TT 225 quattro(mapped to 280bhp), a MK2 Golf GTI(VR6) track car and I've had about 15 others.... But I don't think I can afford to keep up that love affair here without chopping out both my kidneys and selling them!... Unless you guys know otherwise of course!

Also.... are there any other ex Club GTI members on here? I've already seen Velly

Now then, I was in Club GTI in about 1993, my membership number was 1848 and GTI International was still at Crowthorne.

I just moved from Adelaide to Brisbane but I am off back on the 18th to see some of the TDU.

I don't know if I'll have time to meet up but there's a few die hards on the forum. I reckon Lorenz can be called on to go for a drink at short notice and maybe evorobin too.

    Cheers

    Gavin

PS buying a TT is not that bad here once you forget converting everything to sterling. The cheapest I saw a 225 for was 10K, it was on it's 3rd cambelt with another due!! 8L S3s are cheap now too.

I reckon you might have just pipped me to Club GTI.... I think I was on the forums probably from about 2003-2009? I'm mates with GVK if that rings any bells!

As regards TT's... that must mean mine is worth an absolute mint here then It's on about 80k(miles) but is absolutely spotless

I have heard of GVK he has done lots of stuff with 16Vs IIRC. Good cars always pull good money but to import one is a big effort unless it's really special.

Yeah he used to until he had an unfortunate incident with a knife edged crank and some dodgy main bearings! He's now converted to the big 6 with a turbo

Welcome mate! Hope to catch up with you at a local meet sometime - although they tend to be a bit light on in SA! Good luck with the search for a new beast.

Are there any actually scheduled soon? I'd be keen to run along to one! And if there isn't... it'd be cool to set one up. I know of a guy who's got a 4mo Bora with a big turbo on it!

                Hello VeeDub,

Another pom here...I brought my mk2 GTI out when I arrived in 2001. After 12 years of ownership I let it go and obviously regret it as it was just a space issue at the time

Anyway keen to catch up for a beer as I'm sure others are.

                Robin
