Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • A double newbie?? Polo GTI and Tiguan

After months of searching, researching and trawling car yards. the bride and I today decided to do it all again to find the lay of the land.

We had been told that we couldnt get a Polo GTI until at least December of 2012 and so have bee looking at buying a new Fabia RS. They are due to be released in March, or they hope that is the case. Does that sound familiar. We thought that we mind go over to the VW yard and look at a Jetta. Low and behold a brand new delivered yesterday silver GTI. I was also looking at buying a Tiguan, so, only interrupted by wickets in the test at the MCG we are the proud owners of a new GTI and a Tiguan. Pick up the GTI tomorrow. Maybe, just for once, we were in the right place at the right time.

Drive that Polo hard out of the dealer's yard (as soon as it's warmed up anyway) and MAYBE you will avoid the high oil consumption that is plaguing a lot of the 6R GTi's

And welcome and congratulations (for both the car purchases and the upcoming nuptials).

Interesting point kaanage. I dropped the bride off today to pick up the GTI and followed her home and noticed that the GTi was indeed blowing a bit of weed. I thought that this might just be a new car/engine etc. I will keep a VERY close eye on this. Thanks
