  • ACT Just getting into my 92 MkII Golf GTI

    Hi there,

Have owned my MkII for a little while now, but only really starting to look into the online community now. I live down near Canberra in a small town called Bungendore and the MkII is my daily commute.

Have always wanted one - just love the classic look!

Here is a shot of my MkII:

Would love to get a bit more into doing my own work on the Golf, just not sure where to start really.

Welcome to VWW mate! I passed you the other day on Sutton road! There isnt many mk2's around canberra so you've definitely got yourself something unique for here.

What sort of work are you looking at doing? vwvortex forums are a good place to find DIY's and inspiration. But definitely have a look around here!

Ah nice! I went that way home for a change, not a bad drive

A few things need doing but some of the major ones include a heater core replacement, as the old one was removed thanks to the notorious leak problem; pretty sure i need the electrics looked at as things like the rear electric windows don't work and one of the rear doors doesn't open from the outside; the hydraulic lifters are tapping, so maybe I should get the engine gone over (couple of normal services haven't picked up anything crazy yet).

Nothing deal breaking, but irritating nonetheless. Might go say hello to the guys at the Beetle Exchange - heard good things.
