Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello all - First VW Car Ever - Polo GTI

Just bought a 2007 VW Polo GTI recently and can't seem to stop finding excuses to drive it! Great car to drive and my research led me here to the forums. I live in the SE inner suburbs where I see a lot of Golf/Polo owners. Hopefully more than a few are on the forum - I'd love to know more people here.

Please excuse the nick - even though my first car was an Alfa 146, my first real love was a Honda Civic EG9 which I did extensive mods on back then (B18C engine, cams, ecu, coilovers etc). Not as crazy on modding these days but I still love a good karting or track session (if I can work out how I can insure myself).

That's about it in a nutshell. Hello all!!

hey mate, welcome to the forums!

so you'd like to know some like-minded veedub peeps, you say?

melbourne has a VERY active VW scene - the odd dyno day, plenty of impromptu drive days, lots of "well why not?!" photo shoots and get togethers, some great official events (such as South East Dub Fest aka SEDF on these forums, and Day Of VolksWagen aka DOVW, etc), and dont forget the every-friday (for real) gatherings at Dub Addiction's business warehouse in Springy - once the business day's over you can rock up at quarter past five or quarter past ten or wherever in between, and there'll still be peeps shooting the breeze.

otherwise, it'll be installing the odd part here or there (for obvious reasons there's no swear jar), checking out new mods / detailing tips on fellow watercoolers' rides, or just generally trying to concentrate on the conversation amidst Josh's (golfman is his usernic) sporadic BANG FKKN ON chewbacca impersonations.

love the polo 9n3 (our model designation number - i drive a 2008 polo tdi, same shape etc except 4 doors), you gotta come along to Dub Addiction HQ one friday night and introduce yourself and your car!

happy motoring, and we'll be seeing you around for sure.

    cheers,

    scotty

Thanks for the warm welcome Scotty. You've really sold me with all the exciting events and activities for Victoria and SE - it sounds great! So yes, definitely looking to come down one day and join in on an event and meet some people!
