Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello - our baby is due in 2012, we are going to name her "R"

    Hey there,

Pretty excited about the new little baby we have ordered. And excited to be here too.

While I am posting, and should anyone bother reading, I have a question:

To Recaro or not to Recaro? That is the question.

Also, I am definitely getting the black rims, love them. I still have the opportunity to lock in the final colour. Reflex Silver or Candy White?

I like both, but most people are telling me to get the white. Is Silver that bad / boring? Esp with black rims and dark tints?

    Thank!

    R Girl.

    Hi & welcome,
Recaro - they are well made and comfortable (especially the lumbar support). You do pay for them but will feel the difference.
Have experienced them standard and also aftermarket and would recommend them without hesitation (if/when the budget allows)

I would go Recaros and White.
Silver does look a bit boring.

the Recaros are expensive, but if you can afford them, then go for it.

          They are a bit special.

I supect when you get round to selling your car in the future, the Recaros will place it higher up the desirable list

              Guys, thanks heaps.

White it is. I've had too many people support white

As for Recaros, there is a dealership that has them in their showroom R. Will check them out and let you know what I think.

Hubby is campaigning HARD for the Recaros. He also insisted on ACC. Since we both love cars and we drive each others cars it's only fair to indulge him I think.

Thanks again for taking the time to give me your thoughts!

                  Thanks Adam.

Thrilled to be here. I love a good forum

Can't wait. Can't even count my sleeps however, apparently all R's are seriously delayed. So looking at 3rd to 4th quarter of 2012 though dealer has promised to try and get it sooner than that if they can.

Oh well, will have to slum it in the Mk V GTI for just a little bit longer.

It's a 2007 model. DSG should be fine for another year wouldn't you think? Is it necessary to spend money on servicing just the box? I don't drive it that hard, just a little quick every now and then.
