Hi everybody, the name is Mark. I live in north-west Tasmania. Not a bad spot. I'm 23, and I've had ten cars so far in my lifetime. In fact at the moment I have three... Nobody seems to 'get it'
Anyway, after I wrote off my Astra that I bought brand new in 08 this time last year I was in the market for a new car again. The Skoda Octavia cought my eye and I was hell bent on getting the turbo petrol when I spotted a shiny black Passat in the local Toyota dealership. I reckon I drove past 20 times before I told myself I could walk into a yard full of Corollas and still come out with my sanity. Then after all that I realised it was a diesel. Yuk, I thought. I'm never owning a diesel!
No less than three test drives later, and I was convinced. I don't think anybody who has been in it has actually realised it is an oil burner yet!
A modern diesel really makes sense where I live too. So generally I am really pleased.
It has given me a few troubles in the last few months mind you - electric park brake swith failed, lock nut key was missing and I had a flat tyre, and the cam position sensor has been on the blink for the last three months - but now it's just had the big one. The injectors have failed. It's at the dealer as we speak waiting for them to be replaced
