Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    long time dubber. first time water

    Hey all, the names Paul, just bought my first watercooled vw a few weeks ago, a black mk2gti with a factory sunroof. Picked it up for a steal, just in the rwc/transfer stage atm. Iknow a couple of peeps in here from the luft as I've got a couple of the air cooled beasts as well. Pic will come when my computer wants to play ball.

    was this on gumtree not long ago? pretty sure i went and checked it out over in... dandenong area? has a missing rear hatch strut, dodgy-ish sound system, passenger (i think..) window doesn't wind down and its missing a door handle? also has the funny seals on drivers side?
    BUT has electric sunroof, power steering etc...
    looked nice when i checked it out (if its the same one) should clean up nicely with some TLC..what are the plans?

      Sounds like the one. It was over west when I had a look at it. So far the stereo has been fixed, new window reg installed, new door handles for the rear, new lock mechanism for the rh rear. The thremo fan was also fouling on the housing, which caused it to overheat whilst test driving it, good for another price reduction! Aside from ther crunch into second which is common I hear, it's a1 mechanically. This will be the daily driver but the plans will be a general clean up, a slight lowering and a nice set of rims.

        very nice can't wait man, kicking myself for not picking this up but uni exams got in the way! be good to see how she turns out be sure to keep us posted!
