VIC Newbie MY12 Polo GTI

Hi everyone

Picked up my MY12 Polo GTI last Friday evening.

Unlike some I have been fortunate enough to only have to wait 2 months from ordering to driving it out the showroom.

This, however, isn't my first 6R Polo. I had a Polo 77kW TSI (5Dr/CW/Sports/Comfort/Audio/Leather/Sensors/Tint) before this which was written off due to (of all things ) being struck by LIGHTNING.

Long story short, I would have had to wait 5-6 months to get a replacement for the TSI. Lucky for me they had a GTI coming in at that time suprisingly without an owner (actually they had 3 without owners). I told them "Where do I sign?"

The car is incredible, better than I had anticipated (quite rare as well Candy White with Panoramic Sunroof & Xenons). I thought the TSI was delight to drive, but this takes it to another level again.

All in all, pretty stoked with my new toy...definitely someone's looking after me from above!

Haha I get that reaction from others as well...

Funny thing is, it was at the dealer having a rattling noise checked out...when a storm passed through. Of all cars in the yard, it struck possibly the smallest one...directly on the antenna. Antenna was blown right off, no other visible damage externally to the car. Car wouldn't start after that and VW diagnostics showed no communication between modules. It was subsequently written off a few weeks later by the insurance company. Apparently a Tiguan parked next to it was also affected too, not sure on the outcome of that one though.

I would have thought that was the closest you could get to an 'act of god' and the insurance companies would have covered their a$$es. Lucky you!

Yeah it was deemed an 'act of God' but it was still covered under storm damage. I had to pay excess to have my car replaced like for like (but they ended up paying me out for the original price I payed for it when I arked up about waiting 6 months).

Oh man.. couldn't have happened at a "better" place I guess. I'm assuming going through the claim wasn't a big hassle?

Yes it was a blessing in disguise but chasing the insurance company was a real nightmare! And I had to do it whilst I was overseas.

In the end I'm just glad to be back behind the wheels of a new polo...being a GTI is just icing on the cake.

That would have been awesome but unfortunately I have so much on leading up to Xmas that I have to give this one a miss. Have a good one mate!
