Hi guys
A new Mk3 owner here.
Previously owned a Mk4 and a 1974 superbug and I really love the VW community, new and old really mix well.
Picked up my Mk3 GL for $700 with a few issues. Drivers side window doesn't work, passenger side rear window regulator is broken (already found the DIY fix, but I broke the glass trying to pull the window up when it got stuck all the way down on a rainy day), sagging headliner and the car shakes a little on take off and reverse, which I experienced with my Mk4 too.
Otherwise a great car with rego, non standard alloys, good paint etc
My plans at the moment are to just clean it up then drop, sway bar, exhaust etc
My previous car was a 1999 Barina (Opel Corsa) which really introduced me to Euro engines which aren't so intuitive to work with (timing belt required more work than changing the clutch). It was only a 1.4 but with a full exhaust with extractors, sway bar, strut brace (not really that effective as the engine bay is so short) and 205/55 tyres (up from standard 165) it was an amazingly fun car.
I'd be happy to get away with a set up similar on the Mk3 so I can have a satisfying daily driver before looking for something spiffy.
Ford twin spinner anyone?
