Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW NRMA Service

    I have Golf Wagon 77TDI (MY11).

I am coming near my first service (15,000 Kms), I took a quote from Volkswagen Service Centre (VSC), and NRMA Service (Log Book Service).

VSC gave a quote for $450 and NRMA gave me a quote for $312. (The difference is for $13

I am bit confused, should I go with NRMA or pay bit more and go for VSC in Sydney. I was thinking, is it advisable to get the initial services done from Volkswagen Service Centres, so that you I don't loose the warranty.

Although NRMA told me that they do a log book service, which will not void the warranty, I wanted to take a second opinion, as I don't want my baby to go to non specialist doctor.

    Thanks,

    Gagan

As long as whoever you take it to uses all genuine vw parts, including oils etc then your warranty will be fine.
I have taken all my vdubs to a vw/audi specialist for years and had warranty work honoured by VW without problems.
In the end it is what you feel most comfortable doing. If you are happy for the NRMA to do the work then go ahead, otherwise take it to VW or look around for other options.
If you have the option of more than one dealer in your area then it may pay to ring around them also as they will not all be the same pricing.
    hope this helps.

Ask the NRMA people what brand of oil filter will they be using?
What do they do with the drain plug?
What VW spec is the oil they use?

The answers to these questions will help you decide.

Why not choose the middle ground & check out am Independant VW specialist?
