Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New member from New Zealand with a MK2 Jetta

    Hi Guys,

Came across the forum while trying to find some parts for my car and thought I should join in.

I have had my Jetta for about 4 years now but the majority of the time it has been at my parents place in storage while I've been away at uni.

Any way, it is a 1991 South African imported CLi jetta. Nicely spec'd with rallye front and full leather but only 8v.
Starting to do a few bits on it slowly but just trying to keep it tidy really. Getting some rust around the windshield looked at this week! I have a g60 arch kit for it but still trying to find some big bumper side skirts and thin door trims. Also looking for a set of g60 winter wheels or other 15" steels to get widened at some stage.

    Thanks!
    whatcha think?

Oh and yes my head light has tape around it

The glass is starting to come away from the unit and I really don't want it to come out before I get it re-glued.
I have had to replace a rallye headlight before and it wasn't a fun or cheap task!!
    whatcha think?

battle wounds! every car has to have 'em!

welcome to the forums, and DAMN that is a clean car. interior is way cleaner than mine, and the front angle lends itself to being a very nice bit of kit.

welcome and take care of her!

The MK2 Jetta will always have a special place in my heart,as I bought my first VW,a 1988 Jetta CLX brand new,and it was a brilliant car, doing over 300 000 trouble free kilometers in South Africa.

          I have since owned a MK3 Jetta in America,a MK4 Jetta in South Africa,and a MK5 Jetta in Australia.

Never seen a MK2 Jetta in Oz,but still plenty in America last year.

Please post more pics, and keep it origional,as its now a classic VW.

Thanks. I was wondering why there weren't any mk2 Jettas on the forum when I did some searching.

So the MK2 Golf was sold new but the Jetta never made it to Australia?

              Cheers,
              Duncan

Love the interior! That colour combo looks great (with the light lower panels and door cards). The steering wheel is very cool, too!
You should definitely post up some more pics!
