What MYXX is my MK6 Golf GTI

Hi All,

I'm looking to purchase a MK6 Golf GTI and after searching the forums I understand there are some minor differences between MY10, MY11, MY11.5 and MY12. The differences are somewhat defined through the Sticky in the MK6 sub forum, however, is there any way to tell which MYxx is from the VIN/Engine Number?

Your best bet will be to determine the build date (month of manufacture) that's stamped on a plate (either the passenger door jamb, or else in the boot, from memory). You can most easily then tie that date to a model year. MY11 commenced in July 2010, for example.
