Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Future GTI owner says allo allo!

    Hola everyone

New here to this forum though I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks now to glean useful information that seems to come by the truckloads in this forum.

Also, I've just pulled the trigger today by putting in an order for a GTI. Very excited of course considering it's my very first car woohoo!

    Here's wishing everyone happy motoring!

That's what I was thinking, as there's a turbo I didn't think you could have it on your P's without applying for an exception.

Even with an exception application you won't be allowed to drive in since it won't get approved (most likely) on your P's

Hope we can get you to some of our meets though Quackie.
Any more info on yourself and the car?

I think if you're over 25 you're still considered a 'p plater' but aren't limited to doing 100 hours, turbo/super charged cars and the night driving restriction. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Nice choice in car, especially being your first

Thanks guys! Now with all the talk about first car and P license etc, I believe I need to give more info about myself lol.

I've just turned 26 but I've held an open license since the age of 19. So no, I don't need to go through the experience of a P license again (thank goodness!).

It will be the first car that I've had all to myself and owned (parents never gave me a car nor did I requested for one). Yea I know, first car at the age of 26 is a bit unheard of With regards to insurance, I've been quoted $923.45 with a $600 excess.

Now, about the GTI I ordered. Specs: 5 doors, Carbon Steel, DSG, ACC, Detroits alloys, DYNAudio premium sound system, leather. And yes team_v, I do hope to go to some of the meets in the future once I get hold of the car

Sounds like a pretty nice package.
Detroits and Carbon Steel look great, 5 doors does it for me too.

Keep an eye on teh events section for our gatherings.
