Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Hi all from SE Qld - Happy Tiguan owner

    Hi folks,

I'm a happy Tigaun owner from SE Qld. Purcahsed from highway auto in springwood end of December 2009 - in fact we picked up the car on new years eve! We ended up with a white 103 TDI with the offroad pack and dual climate control AC.

Very happy with the car. The fuel economy is incredible. My wife has an 05 CRV sport which gets half the mileage of the Tiguan so I encourage her to drive the VW for longer trips. It's goes like the clappers too!

21 months later have done 31,000kms or 30hrs (that sounds much better) Mainly pacific hwy motoring and school trips etc.

Looking to replace the head rests as the wife finds them to be too far forward. Might make another post about this as I'm sure there are head rests that will fit?

15K service at hwy auto springwood was $444 for an oil change. However there was a $40 charge to fit authentic VW bonnet protector and headlight covers - which have saved me as one is now cracked so lucky I got that done. So near $400 for an oil change which is highway robbery imo.

Found the Castrol edge sport 0-40 oil for $72 at autobarn. Oil filter $17. Looking into the ATE brake fluid but not sure it's required.

Well that's about it for this thread... I do have some questions on servicing and those awkward head rests.

    thanks guys,

    Rich

    Welcome Rich.
Glad to hear you are enjoying the experience, shame about the price gouging for the service though.

Hope we can answer some of your queries

Look up jmac on the forum and have your servicing done by him. Ex VW tech.

You have to watch your oils on all modern VWs and make sure they are compatible. Filters should come from VW or be made in Germany by one of the OEMs.
