Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Multivan newbie with carpet issue

Our 2011 Multivan just arrived after six months wait. White Comfortline TDI 132kw. It is our first VW and our first diesel.

Up to the Hunter Valley two weekends ago. Very happy with it on long trips and it is OK in the city though wife adjusting to dimensions in car parks. Off to country NSW for the weekend with the 3 kids and a grandad.

All good except the optional carpet which does not fit under the multifunction table - what happended to German precision?
Found this site while googling about the carpet issue and have seen a recent thread about carpets issues for others. More than dissappointed that an expensive VW accessory does not actually work with another expensive VW accessory (MF table). Still discussing with the dealer.

Otherwise enjoying (and still working out how all the bits work)...

    Update

Have decided to modify the optional carpet so the middle strip can be removed when mf table is fitted (for us on longer trips). Dealer covering the minimal cost so in the end happy with outcome in the circumstances.

Trip to country NSW with grandad and kids very successful - very happy with how the multivan performs in this role.
