Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Tiggy - 1, Geddit?

    Hi all,
after being a staunch Subaru Forester fan for many years (have had 4), have converted to Tiguan! Was looking at upgrading my MY07 XT2.5 to a S-Edition. Was, that is, until I test drove one, and (luckily) a 147TSI. Not impressed with the overall fit & finish, or technology, and especially value of the new Subes (at least when compared with Tig'). Will take a while to get that boxer rumble out of my blood, but looking forward to trying out the Tiggy (pick it up Saturday). One of my first investments will be the APR Stage 1 Tune, after reading the positive reports in the forum. One question - has anyone experienced any problem with the DSG being able to handle the extra power and torque?
Look forward to sharing my Tiggy experiences, and may it be the first of many!

Hi Transporter, and thanks. Was explaining to the Subaru dealership sales manager why I had bought the Tiguan today (better value, technology, ergonomics, quality of materials and fit & finish etc). Had to explain to him what DSG is (hmmm), but in his favour he did listen with what appeared to be interest and even took some notes. In a rural area with not many dealers (and no VW one) - he said he may even talk to the dealer principal about becoming VW dealer, so there you go! Will certainly post some pics once I scrape all the bugs off and recover from the return trip (about 10hr drive from where I bought it) - should be a good run in anyhow!
      Cheers

        Welcome to the fourms mate.
The Stage 1 tune is a massive imporvement over the stock vehicle.

If you are after a more visceral exhaust note look into getting the rear muffler deleted.

Hi, thanks for that - always been a great believer in letting the engine breath (more in + more out = more grunt), so I'd reckon that'll be on the cards at some point!
          Cheers
