Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Seems I've broken the rules already but here's a copy of my first post

Gday all, Andy from Sydney. First and second cars MANY years ago were 76 LS 2 doors. Good to be back and feels a bit like I never left!

She's an 01 Mk4 GTi with 64,000 on the clock. Bit tatty round the cosmetic edges but nothing some TLC won't fix.

Has Audi looking 17s in average condition with near new boots on them.

Plans at this stage are rims and a tidy up of paint and leather (fake wood is in crap condition on the doors, leather on drivers seat is average as is the steering wheel) then see where the bug takes me...

Anyone got tips on where to find some 17x? BBS CH replicas? Do they exist in 17s?

Look forward to catchin up on the road sometime.

    Cheers

    A

    Current: 01 Mk4 GTi | Milltek | 18 x 8 CH (Rep) - 09 Hypermotard 1100S

    Gone but not forgotten: 01 Monster 900Sie - 01 CV8 - 71 MGB - 99 WRX - 67 MGB - 76 Mk1 LS x 2

    hey andy how are things?

great car - the mk4's are coming into their own more and more these days.

if you would like to find reps (without going direct to BBS aus for $1350 genuine CH wheels), there is a place in melb - i think they're called advance wheels / advance tyres, and they're located in richmond, around 7 min drive from the CBD. i've seen plenty of online ads for BBS CH reps (pretty good looking in high gloss silver finish) from them, for a few different PCD's (mk4 golf = 5x100, mk5= 5x112).

    good luck!
