  • 9n3 TDI from Perth.

    Hi Everyone!
I'm Hayley and Im from Perth and I have a Silver 2008 Polo 9n3 TDI!.

Must say the best Car I have ever owned!
I've owned it since Jan this year and its only now that I'm comfortable enough to start modding.

Any ways, her name is Stella (the first CD i had in the car had a song on it called 'Stella take me home' and it seemed to come on every time me and my friends were driving home, so she got named Stella)

unfortunally a couple of weeks ago, some one took her badge-ginity, so I decided to order her a honey comb grill off ebay

Anyways, now Im starting to look into more mods for her, New Rims, Tint, Coil Overs, Chips, Pod filters, what ever I can get my hands on really, making her not so plain!

    welcome aboard Hayley.

youve found a wealth of knowledge here.

And before you commit to anything like rims, ask questions here, because they are typically a lot cheaper and potentially better quality from overseas

welcome, hayley, and nice choice of car!

there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many different things that can be done to the 9n3, let alone a 9n3 diesel.

you REALLY need to make yourself known in the polo 9n3 section - there are quite a few of us who have already done a couple of things to our cars, and they're old enough now (new one's already been out for a while) such that the peeps on the 9n3 forum are very likely here to stay for a while.

nice honeycombe grille! are you gonna get the lower ones done too?

plenty of sites for coilovers etc, such as dpm performance and europerformance uk, as well as orange tuning if you just want some lowering springs on the cheap.

lots of remap options, and without starting any chip wars, no, you DONT need to spend ~$2k on a remap

enjoy the car - mine's almost at 100,000km's and not a single problem so far, even with a reasonably aggressive map.

now get into the 9n3 forum!

      cheers,

      scotty

p.s. im sure the pods sound nice on the petrol cars, but installing anything reasonably sized is a pain in the arse as we have very little room to work with in the diesels. also, apart from the noise increase, no one has been able to dyno prove any increase in power as a result of an aftermarket filter.

myself, and another 9n3tdi owner (golfman) have both done k&n / bmc filter mods a while back. as far as im aware, we've both switched back to the stock paper filter, which doesnt get oil all over your air flow sensor, and which is capable of flowing enough air for ~300hp anyway. save your money and put it toward the wheels / suspension / chip imo.

        Thanks guys
Oh the rims! I've been looking for about 2 months now! Still can not find a pair I like, both online and instore! I've looked on here and seen a few I like, unfortunally, maybe even fortunally, i found a set I like on a 6N at the shopping center! I really wish I had a closer look at them to figure out what they were, but atleast I've got a photo!

Yes! I will be getting the honey comb grill for the bottom (funnily enough, when the top grill came, my totally-not-interested-in-cars mother, asked that straight away!!) At this stage, I'm trying to figure out if I can get them with out the holes for the fog lights, or if there is going to be the wiring down there for them and just buy some! probably a question, I should ask in the forum!.

I've reallly ummed and ahhed about the pod filter, I had one in my old car and cause way to many problems.!! I probably wont end up doing it, but thought I should have a look-see before hand

                    Welcome Hayley !

There are SO many options for wheels, for the love of god don't go for a crappy knock off set, ask here first, there is plenty of knowledge on what widths and offsets will fit the Polo. So please feel free to ask! 6n Polo wheels won't fit unfortunately. Different stud pattern (4x100 vs 5x100). You could run them, if you got adaptors. But thats a different story

in regards to the pod filter, don't bother. Its a good way to loose power, and it doesn't sound that much better. If you want to get more noise out of it with a small increase in performance, cut off your muffler and get a bit of straight pipe welded in its place, its not too loud and it sounds pretty good!

Also ask away with coilovers, plenty of Polo owners on here have tried all different brands in all different price ranges!

Again, welcome! There is plenty of knowledge to be tapped into here. So feel free to ask
