Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Just placed an order for my first VW

    Hi guys,

Been lurking here for awhile since I made the decision to purchase a VW for my next car. I've been driving a Toyoto Corolla for the past 5 years and decided that it was time for an upgraded. I was initially looking at the Passat but was never really 100% sure on that car despite getting several killer quotes on the 118TSI. I felt that it was an old'ish looking car, IMHO - suit for people with young familes etc. I'm below 30! But I heard that the new facelift Jetta was due soon so I decided to put the buying on hold and I'm glad I did. With the same budget, I managed to place an order for a Jetta 147TSI with sports pack, sunroof and electric seats in Candy White on Saturday!

So I guess, I'm in officially in the VW club?

Which Corolla did you have ?

We have a few in the family, and they are brilliant cars, but the Jetta is in a diffirent class, you will LOVE it.

I've got a 2006 Corolla Ascent Sport. Love the size of the hatchback, espcially for city driving - easy to park. But I felt it was time to get an upgrade after 5 years (gonna get married next year etc) and I'm in need of a bigger boot space as well! I tend to carry lots of musical instruments back and forth. 510l worth of space should come in really handy.

Dealer said the 147 won't come in until next week or so but I'm sure other bigger dealers would have gotten their hands on them already. I drove the 118TSI DSG (non comfortline) on Saturday and I was REALLY impressed with the car, despite it being the entry model. I can only imagine what the 147TSI will feel like with the extra power and goodies. The wait is killing me at the moment!

There will be a MASSIVE diffirence between the enrty level Jetta and the 147,expecially in the looks and interior deparTments, and the Jettas boot is MASSIVE.

I know! Plus mine's got the sports pack - black wheels and tint. Should look great!

I was shocked when I checked the boot out. I couldnt believe how deep it went.. I kept on going back and forth to the rear seats and the boot, wondering how that is physically possible. The rear passenger seats were really good as well. We went for a test drive with 5 adults inside and everyone felt really comfortable. The sales rep was 6ft 3 (sat on front passenger) and he looked pretty comfy. Missus, my sister and friend sat at the back and they all felt really cosy.

Its very well designed, and I think a far better buy than a Passat.
