Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Adjusting Cruise Control steps

Love the Passat V6. Cruise works fine except when I want to nudge the speed up or down a little instead of 2-3 Km/h increments like every other car I have driven or the "small steps" stated in the manual it goes to the next round 10 Km/h and then in 10 Km/h jumps thereafter. These are hardly small steps. Called the service guys to see if this can be adjusted and just got a "nope...that's standard".

Does anyone know whether the steps can be adjusted as 10 Km/h with Australian speed laws really makes this feature totally useless.

Found an answer on a different forum. For those who wish to know

Cruise control can be adjusted in +/- 5MPH _OR_ +/- 1 MPH increments. +/- 5 is done by pushing cruise stick up/down (like a turn signal motion). Cruise speed is increased +1 MPH by pulling the cruise stick toward the driver, decreased -1 MPH by pressing the Set button at the end of the cruise stick. HOLD stalk up and speed will increase like using the accelerator, opposite when holding down. This is not mentioned at all in the user manual. It does not mention the ability to alter speed by pulling the stick and pushing the button at all (I checked again last night in case I had missed it) and clearly says the "turn signal motion" [as it is described above] would increase/decrease the speed in small steps. It appears there was an ommission/screw up in the editing of the document. Tried it last night and it works well. Smal movements are 1Km/h and turn signal movement 10 Km/h which is great when moving through speed zones.
