Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC First time with VW & 15,000km service due soon!

    Hi all,

This is my first vehicle with VW: Golf 118 TSI that was purchased during end of December 2010. So far, I didn't have any trouble with it and I'm enjoying every time I drive it. This vehicle had already been through VW service campaign before I started to drive it.

I have already clocked 13,300km and since I had purchased it Burwin VW, I am thinking of giving it to them for a service. Does anyone give their car regularly to Bruwin VW for service? I would like to hear about your experience with them, please.

You must drive alot to have covered over 13k kms in just over half a year!

For standard log book servicing within your factory warranty period, it only makes sense to take it to your nearest VW dealer to get worked on unless you've had a bad experience with them. Pricing should be consistent no matter which VW dealer you take it to - the 118TSI, whilst being more complicated from an engine design point of view is no more difficult for them to service so I'm sure Burwin would do nothing less than a good job.

Thank you! Yeah, I cover on an average of 60km/day and have done a couple of interstate trips as well. I agree that the engine is sophisticated enough and I read a lot about the engine failures & service campain in the forums. So, I will stick to Burwin for the initial services, atleast.
