Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW New Passat Wagon - First VW...

    Hi All,

Happy to join you all. Just traded my Territory Turbo Ghia on a new Night Blue Metallic 118TSI Passat Wagon. Signed the papers today, and hopefully pick it up within the next 2 weeks.

Certainly seems like a great car and I hope it treats me well. I have to admit, I did have a little trepidation as you don't have to go too far to hear some DSG horror stories, but I am hoping that these are the vocal minority... In the end, I am hoping that quality and resale win out.

Also got a great deal due to corporate discount which made it cheaper than a Mazda 6 Touring, which was the main competitor for us.

We chose the petrol over the diesel as we do mainly shorter trips and I think petrol is still better for them, rather than needing to get particulate filters replaced cause we haven't got the temp up sufficiently. That and the fact that the petrol is still economical (anything is compared to the Territory...).

Look forward to chatting to you all over the coming years, hopefully trading great stories and experiences and not bad ones...

    Cheers,

      Congratulations on the new Passat.

Did you like the Territory Turbo? We've had one for almost five years and it has been terrific. It's such a shame they don't do them anymore.

One of the best cars I've ever owned mate. If it wasn't for the poor fuel consumption I would have got another!

          Interesting.
Considering its size and performance,I've always thought ours was quite good.Around town it does 16L/100KM and on trips loaded up,I've seen 10L/100KM.
I figure if all you put into it is petrol,it's cheap.

We just love ours.It goes,it stops,it handles,it steers etc like a great car and essentially it's a Falcon on stilts. It does not drive like a truck.
I need the seven seat capability and really, only an XC90 V8 appeals right now.
The Territory has been zero trouble and it can go a few years yet.I'll probably keep the TT in mothballs for big family trips and buy my wife a Golf R or maybe an S3 to run around in.

I was hoping to be raving about how wonderful the Passat is by now, but my dealer has been pathetic... Was told that they had to source the vehicle from Canberra and it should take a couple of days. Then, after a few days of trying to contact them for an update was told that they had to wait till the truck was full before it could get to Sydney which may take a week at most... Then, once again after no communication from the dealer and me having to ring and ring and ring before someone would take my call, today I am told that "the dealer in Canberra has changed hands and they are having difficulty transacting and that dealer is not releasing any vehicles"... I don't know what I am more annoyed at - the delays (for whatever reason - now 3 weeks), or the poor customer service through lack of communication from my dealer.

I'm sure the car will be great - if it ever turns up (and yes I know that some people have had to wait 5 months, but I was told one week!)!
