Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,

So I am formally new to the forum but admit to being a long time "lurker". Actually "stalker" would be more accurate for a couple of threads, namely how to get compatible bluetooth in my GTI without offering my firstborn for a basic kit (there's apparently a new one coming with all the bells!), LED tail lights thread, and getting an OEM Satnav into my car.

My sweet ride is black 2010 Golf GTI with leather & sunroof that I've had since new. The only time I have let it out of my possession was for a weekend swap with a Porsche 911 Turbo (very trusting friend) - sorry guys but it was a German marque so I hope you'll forgive me. But to be frank I was happy to get my GTI back - better day driver, not worrying about speed bumps/driveways etc. and the 911 was just brutal (but fun) in manual mode. In short, I love my little GTI and have something fairly special to compare it with.

So I thought it was finally time I said hi and introduced myself. I don't know how much I'll be able to contribute given the frankly intimidating knowledge some of our fellow members here seem to have about all things VW, but will add my 2 cents if I think I can help & stay out of the way if I can't.

See you out on the black top in QLD
(most probably the sublimely windy Mt Glorious - Wivenhoe - Sommerset run).

PS - special thanks ENERG1 for the awesome buy on the new replacement alloy ...

    Welcome mate.
Hope we can get your bluetooth solution worked out (i think fiscon or parrot make a bluetooth that is compatible.

Also hope we can get you to some of our SE-QLD events so we can see the GTI in person.

Thanks for the warm welcome team_v.

I'll certainly try to get out to an event or two - I don't need much of an excuse to get out for a drive.

BTW, love the look of your Tig. Looking at getting one for the mis with our first bub around the corner but may go 2nd hand 2-3 years old to keep the payments manageable. I heard the little devils, I mean darlings, can be expensive to maintain as well ...

Haven't had any issues with mine, fitted everything i needed into it including a dishwasher, an over and all the stuff to renovate the place we are working on now.

Cost for general servicing is $270.

Keep an eye on the mk6/car audio section and see if you can find anything for the bluetooth option.

Welcome to the forum, or should I say welcome to posting not lurking??? Lol.
Hope you find what you need, it's also a great place to find contacts for different things to do with vw's.
          Look forward to catching up!
