Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New kid on the Qld block

Hello. I'm Nick. I'm the owner of a white mk3 that needs alot of work to it. I'll give you an idea of what I'm in for and what you can expect. So I brought the 1997 golf in high K's which I guess was my first problem. After $600 and alot of messing around it was final legal to drive on the road. Being some time ago I never got the chance of looking it over to start work on. I got it to my new home on the weekend and got to have a look under the hood, nearly anything plastic e.g. Value cap for break fluid, smaller caps for the vacuum pipe etc are all rotten and basically powder. A hose has a huge hole in it and in some cases while driving it i can't get it into 5th gear. So that is the rough idea. Most of the fixing will be DIY with the help of good friends and hopefully some of your insight. This weekend I will be working with fixing some of the paint on the car, painting the lower lips gloss black, hopefully connecting a pod filter and trying to repair the hose with a hole in it.

I will be posting photos as I go along, it will be a slow process so please bare with me as it will take time and my sanity.

Hey, welcome to the forum... There is another guy on here (ironman) who can probably share your passion for having to make repairs...

Hope to catch up with you at one of our QLD meets!
