Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi all , just quick intro.
Got a 2003 Transporter 2.5 SWB, Man Trans (Odd- 140K ), bought in 2005 @ 23K. Just love it no probs , just general wear n tear ( & not much of that really).
Bought for basic camping unit so had side windows put in and lined out. Has DYI platform dbl bed , 2nd battery setup under passengers seat and an Engle 40 lt fridge . It serves us pretty well as is also my main city car. However wife and I starting to think we would like a little more room as plan to spend more time on the road in the comming years.
So thinking about later model LWB , Crewman or Caravell that can do simillar basic conversion. Wife also wants automatic.
Hence joining the site to see what others think and have already posted . Get back to you all soon

    Can you post some pics?

We've just bought a 2003 LWB 2.5TDi auto (133,000km) & rebuilt the trans twice in the space of 168kms! - they forgot to refill the diff with oil the first time, its a separate fill). Due to get it back soon. 1st rebuild cost $6k, second one will be free with a new diff thrown in for good measure.

Might get a chance to test it out properly soon.

Needless to say, my experience with autos is not too fantastic at the moment but hopefully we'll get at least another 130,000km out of it.

    Good luck,

    Dan
