I'm pretty new to this forum thing as I was once a "bloody volvo driver"! 
I got my first vw car (golf) in mid-May and been loving every moment of it. never have I driven a turbo car before and I'd start to love driving again after driving the bloody volvo for 11 years (yes they are tough as a tank).
I don't think I will do much to this car as yet until maybe the warranty runs out in 3 years time, probably will get some gti wheels to dress it up abit (I love the GTI wheels, they are sooo unique). I'd had a bit of trouble though with the DSG gearbox in my 90TSI and after searching this forum, it is now known to me as "death of flash" or was it "flash of death" instead? haha doesn't matter they same thing.
anyway, fuel economy has been great for a petrol car as I'm getting almost 800km per tank mostly urban driving and yes, I've been light on the gas as it has just done 2000k... so still pretty new hopefully it will stay that way.
I always thought you can only achieve that kind of milage with diesel only but VW downsized engines are too efficient!
