Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Ex Ambo O/B Van

I have recently purchased an ex ambulance Transporter 2007 model and converted the cargo section into a TV Outdoor Broadcast suite for broadcastin to Sky Channel from Harness racing tracks. I need to do 2 things and I am hoping someone can help. Firstly I need a cargo barrier between the drivers compartment and cargo area and I need a good towbar fitted to tow a trailer. I think Hayman Reece are the ones to fit but first quote I got was for $1280. The dealer says I need a "Smart Relay" fitted to protect the electronice. Does anyone know if this is the case. I can get a cheaper towbar fitted from another mob but I they didn't mention the Smart relay. I love the van already and hope to have it for a long time so I want to do all the right things.

Welcome... would love to help you but don't know much about the transporters. does it need to be a Cargo Net or would a piece of Perspex do the job? Try ARB for divider maybe... they do them for cars and 4x4's. Good Luck
p.s Hayman Reece is the best for towbars. Unless you know any good engineers....
