Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA Mkiv r32 #13

    Hi all,

Been reading the forums for a while on and off and finally decided to join

Had R32 (BMP) #13 for close to 4 years, bought from a local dealer with very low kays, now has close to 70k on the clock and starting to need some serious cash spent on it 4 brand new tyres this week and new brakes in the next month

bit embarrassed by the state of the car so no photos

    Welcome mate.
The Mk4 R32 sparked my lust for the VW brand.

There is a tonne of info on the forums that you will likely find useful.
I believe brakes are cheaper if sourced from overseas.

What sort of tyres are you after?

      Hi team_v

      Thanks for the welcome.

I agree I still remember seeing my first r32 in the flesh and thinking it was sweet, never thinking I would one day end up with one, now I love VW's

I have the tyres already bought some goodyear f1's from tirerack based on recommendations on here actually, a smidge over 1k landed which is about half the price than local sources.

Will jump on the MrkIV forum to suss out brake options

Haha i was going to reccomend tirerack actually, the F1's are pretty good from all the reviews i have read.
I am going to get some PS3's when mine die from tirerack.

Hope you find all the solutions you are after in the mkIV section.

Hi Dragon, welcome to the forum! Nice to see another Mk IV R on board!! As you're NOR, have a chat to Joe at Golfwagen in Wangara and see if he has any pointers for your brakes etc.

Hope you might be able to make it up to this year's German Car Day in July. See the link in my signature below.

          Cheers
          Geoff

hi mate good to see more r32s in WA joining.

Get your brakes from ecs tuning. I got VW genuine front rotors and EBC redstuff pads from them for AU$650 delivered!!! VW ozzy park wanted $750 per rotor!!!

Thanks for all the recommendations particularly ecs tuning (thanks balkanac (have spotted you a few times at porsche and Italian car days)) will check them out, I had my car with joe at golfwagen early this year for the big service (haldex) as it was about $400 cheaper and I was very impressed with his knowledge

will def check out the german car day and try to make it up this time.

I can recommend john at wheels world for fitting the tyres, he shares a space with a tyre place that does the actual fitting but hes very knowledgeable in suspension etc, does a lot of local motorsport fitting/tuning, back wheels where way out of alignment

                        hey welcome aboard Dragon.

The R32 is a nice piece of kit. I was looking at one of those when I bought my S3, but they were out my price range at the time.

Hope to see you at the Northam meet!

                          WOW, just seen this.

#13 huh, damn. I was trying to find that one a year or so ago when I was hunting one down, I ended up with #12 ! Close as #13 seemed to have vanished. But alas it has now shown it's face.

Congrats man. You got to get some photo's up fella.
