Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi everyone,

This is not my first post here, but a lot has changed since last one. I moved to Victoria in March with my new Jetta, unfortunately, after just two weeks in Melbourne (and three months owning a car), I totaled my VW in an accident. Yeah, whatch out while doing those right turns, even if the traffic stopped to let you through, there's always someone doing 80 in the right lane. Fortunately, no one got hurt.

Searching for a replacement for my VW, I only had one condition - it had to be a 2.0 litre FSI Turbo with DSG. GTIs IMHO are overpriced, Audi salesmen are cocks and all Jettas i came across were not as good. So I ended up with a Skoda. I'll post a comparison of GTI/RS later.

    Cheers!

That's a horrible end, but overall sounds like a relatively positive result. Hope the insurance covered your loss.

Insurance covered pretty much everything. BTW, I know that they were going to sell my Jetta off Pickles auction as a repairable write-off, so if anyone comes across a dark blue '06 Jetta with tan leather and "18 rims with approximately 47000 on the clock - have a mechanic to check it.

What a pity, your Jetta was lovely.

It is at Pickles at the moment as a repairable write off.
