  • VIC Volkspower

Hi everyone, I love this forum and have been lurking on it for some time. Recently I took my 2008 polo to Volkspower in Burwood. Being VW specialists I thought they would do a good job. It was only for a minor service. Half way through the day I get a phone call telling me the job was done. I'm happy, except then the guy offers to change my wiper blades. I ask "How much?" and he says "One hundred dollars"... WTF! Rather diplomatically I tell him I'll do it myself. I thought I would share this experience with you and see what others have thought of them. Can anybody else recommend a VW specialist in Melbourne? Thanks.

Have you seen the cost of the wiperblades? All 3 from VW spares, gonna cost you about that!

As for recommendations - Volkspower are one of them... lol

You can pick up the OEM wiper blades online for about $40-$50.

I highly recommend Audvolks in Clayton. Very knowledgeable, always around to help, VERY well priced. Mind you, I drive 1.5 hours to get my car serviced there.

Try Supercheap or similar. Mine cost somewhere between $6 and $10

Try Volkscare in Boronia. I find them great.

              Cheers.

Very funny. Cost of wipers blades is always how I judge a good vw specialist.

+1 for Audvolks, send the audi and sisters Mk IV Golf there. Awesome service at very reasonable prices.

                      Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'll be replacing the wiper blades... when they need to be changed, probably with something from Autobarn.

I'll admit I'm becoming a bit paranoid about getting ripped off. I once had a garage bill me for new wiper blades at a routine service. It was awkward when I pointed out to the mechanic that I'd changed them myself the week before, and they were the same ones still on the car.
