Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Seat mk2 Ibiza Cupra GTI 2.0 16V

After months of searching we have just purchased a little white 1999, Mk2 Ibiza Cupra GTI 2.0 16V for my
daughter as her first car. She paid half, Mum & Dad I paid the rest... $3,000. 140,000kms with a good service history.
After looking at a LOT of cars (Hyundai's, Mitsub's, Toyota's, etc, etc) she fell in love with the little Cupra. I must admit it's a bit faster than what I wanted her to get in as her first car...but it also has a lot more safety features and handles 10 times better.

Car has Koni coil overs on each corner, K&N filters, interior is mint and all the other standard stuff.
    Probs:
Need to find a front left fog light surround...you know that little piece of plastic?
Can't work out fuel gauge yet...seems to have a mind of it's own
Lights behind fan and heater switch on centre console not working ?? Have to find the bulb that lights these up
Got some paint missing on skirts and 2 x dents... All will be repaired and resprayed this weekend in 2K
    ....All little things

Although it is a pretty rare car here in Oz I am hoping the VW similarities and hopefully things like this forum should mean finding parts when we need them isn't too difficult.
Biggest problem she will have is probably trying to stop Dad driving it

    what an awesome first car!

    Good luck with it all!

Sounds like it's already got a good bit of kit on it. Time to get her onto the track and teach her how to drive it properly! lol

Hopefully she can bring it to some of the events so we can see it in person.

      Pretty decent pickup there.
