  • should I buy a Tiguan

Yes looking at buying a vw. I currently drive a manual Nissan Navara but it's a tad difficult in city traffic. I love my diesel N, and off-road driving. Looking at the Tiguan so its easier to climb out of my car each morning in my office heels and skirt. Not to mention PARKING.... i have loads of off road questions tho before I take the VW plunge.

I can hardly wait to trade my Tiguan and get rid of it. Broken plastic clips, rattles & squeaks, outrageous servicing costs, cheap finishes. Don't get stuck outside of the CBD and need to change your rear brakes pads like I did, only a VAG dealer can do it. Electric hand bake off road, forget it. Ground clearance is no better than our Passat. If you have a Nissan 4WD you will be very, very disappointed. The only good news I reckon is the engine, very frugal and plenty of torque. You may gather I hate this car, you would be right. I have owned many VW's and with this one it is neither fish nor foul. I would't recommend it to anybody. Good luck! There would be many people that won't agree with this but I have had this car for 3 years and 82,000 Ks, awful.

Oh I forgot to mention when the car decided to lock me out with the keys still in the ignition and the radio on, this shouldn't even be possible. NO explanation or diagnosis from VW on this either by the way. Road side assist came out and bent my door frame to get it open, theres another squeak right there!

Sounds like you've had an unfortunate experience Phillslats. It must be said though that your experience is not one that is common to every Tig owner. We've got a Tig in the family and it's been excellent - far more solidly put together than my Golf...
