Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

So here she is, was rough as when I got it (missing trim all over the outside and generally filthy) I dont think Paul ever washed her

So far I have got most of the GTI trim back
replaced the front lip with a brand new one from China
    painted the front bar
cleaned up the inside and started on the outside (still needs a good cut)
    put in Hot tunnings coilovers
replaced all belts, vac lines, plugs leads dizzy cap rotor button.... ect.....ect.....
oh and painted the wheels black for now (not sure if I am keeping the steelies yet)

Good to see another brissie owner on board.

Always look nice in White, give Jimmy Mac a call, he can sort the idle issue for you and you will not need a bank loan

Yeah wheels are on the cards at some stage but I am on a tight budget with this thing and its cost a bit just to get her running properly :-/
it had tonnes more wrong with it then I thought when I bought the dam thing.... but she is getting better

                        Check out tirerack.com

I saw they had some pretty awesome BBS and OZ wheels available in the older bolt patterns (4x100?)

                            Update.....

I can now get reverse and first when I actually want them
I replaced the the linkage bushings at the gear box over the week end, WOW what a difference..... I don't know how the last owner drove it for so long the way it was

next on the list is timing and CV boots..... then hopefully some cheap second hand wheels.

Then I am pretty well done for a while

Feel free to start a proper thread in the MK2 or project section.
The work you've done so far is a huge improvement, don't want to miss any of the work planned for it.
