Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Finally found a MkV GTI

    Hi All

My name is Geoff from Brisbane. Long time lurker, finally a member.

Today I finally closed off an on again / off again search for a new vehicle which ranged from MkV and MkVI GTIs, RS Meganes and even a brand new Focus XR5 (that was until I drove one). Eventually I determined that a good used MkV was a stop-gap until I convince myself that an R (or even a MkVII) would be my next purchase.

I picked up a pristine 2006 MkV GTI in Tornado red with absolutely no options - I didn't want DSG but would have liked leather and Xenons - but it only has 45000km on it and has been completely pampered. It was spotless when I picked it up but was filthy when I got home due to the rain here today.

Now, I have to find a way of finding a MkVI owner to offload their 18" Detroits - any suggestions ?

    Cheers
    Geoff
