Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Sucked into the VW warp

    Hi all,

Well, I thought it best to join the forum after lurking in its pages over the last 5 weeks. I will use this post as a small intro into me and a bit of history as to how I ended up on the forum…

I was making fun of DH recently, because he had ordered his MKVI GTI 7 months ago, and I claimed I would never wait that long for a car. I insisted that if I was to buy a new car, I would want it within a week. Now, about 5 weeks ago he tried to convince me that I needed a Tiguan 147.

So, making the biggest mistake of all, I allowed him to take me to a dealer to touch, feel, looksee and ‘sit’ in one. Trying my best too not fall into ‘the trap’ I kept grabbing at what I felt where strong ropes to get me out of this sinkhole I felt I was getting sucked into. (the sinkhole I feel was being convinced to buy a VW and wait for months for a car)
I would not buy a car that I had to wait months for!!

I tried to argue that the Mazda CX7 and Nissan Dualis were just as good…all the points I brought up were shot down…these strong ‘get me out of this sinkhole’ ropes were turning into flimsy strings….I was sinking…I was being consumed…no!!! Don’t convince me to buy a car and have to wait months for it….Nnnnooooooo.

The last drawcard I had, was boot size. Boot is too small. That is what I found myself repeating to the sales rep and DH.

DH then stated: you’ll have roof racks and you don’t need a big boot size.

Me: Don’t care. Boot too small.

DH: The boot in the Dualis is smaller sweetie…

    Me: …

DH: what colour do you want?

Me: I don’t wanna… ok …fine. Black or Blue or Silver.

So, you see, I was out numbered, conned and pushed into buying a car that I have found myself getting slightly excited about. (don’t tell DH…I still claim to him it’s only a car that’s gonna cost me money. Lol, if he read this and saw I was actually happy about it…imagine all the ‘I told you so’s I’d have to endure!! )

In all honesty, I think VW make fantastic cars, and am stoked that Hubby finally replaced his 11yr old Nissan Pulsar with a MKVI GTI (he picked it up today, 50km’s in and he is already moding it!!)

So, is this the part where I raise my hand and admit that I too have fallen for the overall great looking/driving VW and joined the que?

Geez, it’s gonna be a long wait… best to fill in the time looking for what mods I can find for DH to do to my Igy for me…

(ps: VW Tiguan 147TSI Black )

Welcome. It's a very long wait but I'm sure it will be worth it when you get it. How long is your wait going to be? Did you add any options to it?

Tnx, I caved to a black Tig with: leather, MDI, Bluetooth, carpets, mud flaps, tow bar; and I think maybe one or two other bits and bobs. I just said to the broker: get me this or as close to and one of the three colours. The only must is leather. And shortest time possible. So, he found a black one with most of what I wanted ( I did want the sunroof, but he couldnt get one) and expected delivery first week of July. Apparently one of the last 2011 built and on a little boat somewhere.

        Welcome mate.
The 147 is pretty well appointed.

        Black does look pretty swish.
