    Greetings all!

Thought I'd drop by and say hi. I'm in the process of acquiring a new Golf Wagon and already looking at various ways I can tinker with the cool bits...

Specifically, as I've purchased an RNS510 sat-nav unit aftermarket, I'm investigating the process of how I need to do it (looks like I'm up for three hundred bucks of cable and software). The car comes with the RCD310. Hoping I can get the dealer to code it for me but I suspect things might barf when the computer realises that the sat-nav is "broken" (i.e. not there/installed yet).

Maybe someone can tell me why it's considered to be just a mark V and not a real VI?

Welcome, the wagon is still on the MkV platform, which I don't think is all that different to MkVI anyway, note bodywork actually has Mk5 lines and there are facelifted front guards, bonnet, lights, grill etc to make it look like a MkVI at the front. These are unique to the wagon, a Mk5.5 maybe.

Good choice though, and welcome to the VW nutters corner.
