  • NSW long time lurker, but new mk6 gti soon to arrive.....

hello, ive been around these forums for a while, but have never actually owned a vw. i was more into the japanese cars before, but as u get older, u just want something nicer. thats why ive decided to buy a new 2011 mk6 cw golf gti 3dr man.

i posted before about testing the polo gti but the dsg never sold me and thats when i switched to the golf gti. i ordered one that was already on the boat on the 12th march, and they said 6-8 weeks before it would arrive.
specs are mdi and cable, bt, weathershields, tint, rear cargo mat- $40600.
the only thing i wanted was the dynaudio but that would have meant a sept delivery.
anyway, its been almost 2 months and the car will arrive on the 6th, this week, then about 2 weeks for quarantine and customs.

now, to the part that some people might find interesting. in the past 2 months while ive been waiting for the car to arrive, ive bought a few things for the car

oz racing ultraleggera 19"x8, running dunlop sport maxx gt 235/35/19. i know a lot of people dont like the oz racing rims and people say they r played out, etc. but i like them, i think detroits and denvers look terrible, and i cant justify spending $5k+ on true baller rims on a $40k car. maybe if it was an m3, then i would buy hre.
apr dump pipe, picked this up courtesy of a forum member. also picked up a stage 1 and 2 carbonio intake.
i have decided not to do a catback exhaust, in the past, ive had exhaust systems in my previous cars and after a while, the noise became too much. although some were nice (amuse dual titanium for my s2000 was subtle, and the hks kansai service in my evo9 was quiet) some were really loud fujitsubo rm01a in my b18cr eg civic. this has made me skip the catback, plus i think the gains r negligible.
eibach springs- thanks to derek at european autotech. these were from the EA apr gti that he was running. its not the actual eibach prokit gti springs, but something he developed and tested with rob van oz from eibach australia as they found the gti kit was too darty and stiff.
ive also set aside money for the apr stage 1/2 ecu upgrade as the easter sale is on and will get derek to do the gauge sweep recode. this is something they should have set from the beginning imo

because i missed out on the dynaudio option, ive ordered my own stereo upgrades and for less than what the dynaudio would cost, and imo, much better.
i purchased the components overseas at substantially cheaper prices than local shops- boston acoustics pro60se for my fronts, leaving the rears stock, running my jl audio sub tube and powered by a jlaudio 700/5 amp. ill have the good people at straithfield brookvale do the work as they have looked after me in the past. i know a few people have asked about upgrading the stock stereo system in the golf, so ill report back one my system is completed.

anyway, ill be updating with some more pics when my car finally arrives and when i start installing some of the parts.
