Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT Hi- Newbie having 1st time jitters

    Hi guys,

This forum is so cool, wish I found it earlier. I'm about to get a 2007, my08 gti dsg , the inclusions is worth it:

    -50000kms
    -full log book
    -dealer purchase
    - sun roof
    -Bi Xenon
    -tint
    -blue tooth
    -17" wheels (non Detroit)
    -new tyres (some crappy brand)

What would you pay for it?

Embarrassingly, I currently drive a 4wd, have been wanting something alot faster for a long time. Hence the change

absolute lowest possible price from a dealer.. see if u can try for 25k cash if you have it. Has timing major 4 year service been done, including timing belt? thats a $1-2k service there.

i wouldn't pay more than 27.5 (as it is a 4 year old car now). GTIs always attract a higher premium for some reason - i guess its the pedigree of the brand. Just bargain .. dealers always make a profit, all depends on how much your willing to give them.

as a guide i bought my 06 A3 for 25k with 58 on the dial, full + major service history, leather, premium sound less than two months ago. private.

Dekay, that's a super deal man!

Sigh, feel like a **** negotiator...paid slightly under $30K for it. Getting it tomorrow. Thanks for the input Dekay and Avvashi! The major service hasn't been done. Think the first thing I'm going to change is the crap tyres, there's premwell on them now. It does only have 3 years of use though coz it was sold on April 2008.

            Thanks Adamg,

I think so too, just having to fix an unresponsive boot (via remote) and we should be all set.
