    Hi everybody,
I just got my first Volkswagen to replace an HSV.It's an R in black with DSG,19's and leather.I'm absolutely delighted with the car and just blown away by its ability, quality and performance.I've never had a VW before and grew up with Italian and German cars mainly with a couple of Japanese cars as well.
I lusted after an R32 but missed out but now really think the R is a better effort.I love the sound too!

Exhausted? ****e,that doesn't sound good. Put my order in a couple of weeks ago, lucky they had a couple on order already.
Is there anything about the car that disappoints you? I'm a bit worried about the rattles that seem common about this car.
How are you finding the DSG?

          OK.That's what I heard.
I'm very happy with it so far.
Rattles? Mine is tight at just over 5K which suits me because I hate rattles!!

I'm getting used to the DSG.Around town, Drive is frustrating because it shuffles up into sixth very quickly and needs a good prod to get it to downchange.Sport is much better with lightning fast changes, the fantastic BRAAAP between them and exhaust pop but it hangs onto third too long I think. If you get to 70KMH it will just slip into 4th but wants to changedown all the time.If I change up myself it downchanges itself about 10 seconds later.

So,most times I just slip into Tiptronic and change gears myself.I'm much happier and so is the engine.

I do wish the paddles stayed put and didn't disappear with the steering wheel though.

Overall though,I like DSG very much.

LWR - the longer you drive the R the more you will love it mate. I have had mine since December last year and it has 8300km on it. I considered a Clubsport and found the R being around $10K cheaper and only half a second slower to 100km/hr made it a better choice. I am glad I chose the R now, as it is absolutely cracking

              Datman,
Thanks for replying.I drove a couple of HSV's but they didn't ring my bells. The new steering wheel is huge, the thick A pillars annoy me and I'm just over them. When I drove the R,I just knew it was the one for me.I am very happy with it.
What sort of economy are you getting with yours?

I'm getting around 14L/100 running around town with some short toll road runs.

I don't really worry about economy much either because it's so much fun to drive it on the gears.

Have you thought about an APR tune?

Bayside Performnance Services do custom tunes as well if you are in the Brisbane/Cleveland area.
They are getting quite a good rap.

Teav_v - how much cash are we looking at to get a tune done? I am coming down on the Queen's Birthday for the QSprints on the Friday and heading to the Winternats for the weekend. May be great to have a tune done then, if they are reasonable and don't affect the warranty.

                          Cheers
