Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • The Alure of a New Tig, its nearly got us......help me out if you can...:)

Hello and Good Evening or Morning. May I say firstly that I am impresed with the overall attitude to all posts and threads. Informative and helpfull and you know what some even entertaining. I am new to this terrific website and have joined becasue my wife and I are about to sign on the dotted line. I would like to ask, if I may a question. The vehicle we are about to buy is a 147 TSI (Auto) with the following....
    New Yorks
    MDI
    Bluetooth
    Leather
    Metallic paint
    Xenon's
    Sat Nav
    Park Asist
    Extended Warranty.

We live in QLD, what sort of pricing has someone else paid for a similar line up in the 147.

May I also say that every tig I look at just makes me want one more and more, its addictive. Well I hope to here from you and again thanks....Looking forward to interactingwith you on all the ups and if any downs those to...

    Welcome mate.
    The 147 looks pretty loaded.
Hopefully you can get a nice deal on it considering the new model is due for release in Q3 - 2011.

Would be good to have another Brissy owner.

Hi, no problem, could I ask you did you concentrate on getting the discount off the actual vehicle or did you work on getting discounts on everything, or did you get combinations of free items, most of the discount off the vehicle and a little only of the extra's. While I don't want to know what you paid, your approach interests me so I can set up a plan of attack. Cheers

We purchased ours when VW had the driveaway special in March so they were very reluctant to give any further discounts. As we didn't have too many options i just worked on getting the best price on the whole package and with a bit of negotiating i was still able to get an additional discount. Basically i worked out we got an overall saving of approx $6500 off the original ORC price.

Love my wife, tried to explain to her the operating cost of our car at the moment as opposed to novated lease on the tig, wow, she has shut the option down, this is her car, so will work on the alure factor, wish me luck....While its her's, its secretly mine, oh well, mid life crisis here I come....

I love my wife, i was looking at this site looking and researching and she sits next to me and says "All Right show me the Pepper Grey", I wanna see it, got to love her, well, she starts to look. I check out Prodigy's photo links (Thanks Buddy) and then we come accross the red one on Car Sales . Com and its "L.O.V.E" at first sight, re doing the numbers and a look tomorrow at the red one in the dealer. Got to love the "Allure" of the tig.

Cherry Red or Pepper Grey, that is the question, My wife has come around to agreeing to the purchase. Have just got the Novated lease's discount 5%...mmmmm...I think not, off to the second option now. I am even considering getting a quote from a dealer some 1000km away in the country and travelling to them to pick up, less people purchasing I would hope and the chance for a better deal.

Country or out of state dealers are known to give a bigger discount from the expereinces i have seen so far.

I would go the Cherry red.
It is a unique colour not available on any other VW models and it stands out when i see it.

Have you spoken to Highway Auto at Springwood?
Try talking to Andrew J there he did the best deal for me.

Thanks, I have spoken to Jim, nice bloke, I like his style, nearly ready to go to him with all of the other quotes. Damn I wish I had more money, starting to get realistic about the extra's, god I hate common sense....Went to Austral and 7 month wait and he states might be the new model anyway, I said did not want new model, want to order the exact one I want now. Boy weird stuff, look at website at what are all of the extra's and no sorry 7 month wait but cannot guarantee if 2011 model or 2012 model (Europe Year)...???. The Tig is beautiful, all hail the "Tig"....Thanks team_v

Thanks to Phillip in the ACT for the offer. Nice sales research, by the way, Phillip. Thought I would keep the sale in QLD. Did the deal, ordered now but it will be the 2012 model. 147 TSI with Sat Nav, MDI, Bluetooth (Standard Feature in the 2012 Model, bugger), Foam Tray for Boot, Chrome Trim for Boot, Carpets, all on roads in QLD in Night Blue.....$48260.00...(No Bull****, thats the price) Hard to know what a fair price is and not a fair price. The salesperson, brought the car to my wife's work, allowed her a 40 minute test drive, reversing, speed bumps, turning circle, described everything to a T, perfect service so we did the deal. I did lots of research, gee, some say 15 -16% discount, most say 10%, difficult to pinpoint. The single most important point in all of this is that, I can write this on here to share my love for the Tig, but most of all, we will own a tig in 5 - 6 months......Happy Easter Everyone......
