  • QLD My first VW - VERY NERVOUS

Well I've just ordered my first VW. 2011 Golf 118TSi VI MkII, 6 spd manual in black. I have been reading the forum posts and am worried about the engine problems that the 118 seem to have. Can anyone tell me if this problem really has been solved.

The problem has been solved via a Recall and reflash of the ECU.

Hopefully we can get you to some of the Brisbane evetns to meet the local crew.

Yep, as above... a reflash fixed the issue.

That said, I would strongly recommend you only use quality (ie. BP or Shell) 98 octane fuels to avoid problems.

It didn't put you off buying your Jetta, why put you off buying the (German not Mexican made) Golf?

Well said Jake02. I'll chose German built every time.

                  Awesome.
Hopefully we can get you along to some of the Brissy based events so we can see it in person.

According to vortex, the German built Golf 6 has rattle issues which are far worse than in Mexican built Jetta 6 models...

I had a good run in my Jetta 5,and the Honda is as quiet as a mouse, which is actually how it should be...

My Mk6 is beautifully rattle-free, and every bit as well built as my rattlier Accord Euro (CL9).

Congrats to the OP on the new car! Sure you'll love it.
