Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi

I'm looking at a new Polo diesel for my partner, to replace a 99 Barina which has been a great little car but now has 240,000 km on the clock.

I have thought very highly of VW cars for years but have never owned one.

My first cars were all BMC front drive cars - Austin 1800, Morris 1100 and 1500 Nomad, Mini 1275LS ( a proper Mini not those oversize BMW pretenders.) Then a P76. Later I got into French cars - Citroen GS1220, Renault 12, 18, 20; Toyota Corona wagon (to my eternal shame, it was AWFUL); TR Magna wagon. Now I drive a Peugeot 307 Diesel wagon, which is great.

I hope to learn more about the Polo from this forum.
